In a district of Marpak, a rural area devastated by the earthquake of 2015 R4C are rebuilding the schools. Working with the local people, both primary and secondary schools will be rebuilt. The exact number of schools required is still uncertain, as the government of Nepal is considering rationalisation and merging of some schools.
Update: We currently believe five or six schools will need to be rebuilt
In a valley close to Pokhara, Right 4 Children (R4C, our partner in Nepal) are building a centre that will train disadvantaged and vulnerable young people in skills and trades of the hospitality sector. This builds on a successful pilot project delivered in partnership with Movenpick Hotels. The young people will be trained to the highest, internationally accredited standards and placements found for the graduates. Construction continues and the first course, delivered in partnership with GATE College, is hoped to start in 2017. Community services will commence to ensure that the local population benefit from the new facilities. Further building will continue along-side the courses as further academic facilities, hostel accommodation and a community centre are added.
